The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies will host Dr. Tarryl Janik, a lecturer in anthropology at UW-Whitewater and UWSP alum, for a presentation open to students.
What happens when a psychedelic ayahuasaca church in Florida is forced to explain itself to the state? This talk shows how encounters with the DEA reshaped ritual practice, ethical responsibility, and religious authority—revealing law not just as a limit on religion, but as a force that helps produce it.
