PAY: $10.17/hour
POSITION TYPE: Part-time

-Flexible Hours YMCA Adapted Recreation Coaches are responsible for assisting and coaching within the Adapted Recreation programs in accordance with the YMCA’s “everyone is a winner” philosophy. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
-To ensure that all participants maintain their sense of ownership within the program.
-Stress and monitor health and safety of all participants.
-To encourage sportsmanship as an immediate and long-term goal.
-To ensure success for all participants, while developing sports skills.
-Be able to relate goals and philosophies of YMCA and Special Olympics to participants.
-To maintain an open, informal line of communication with the Gymnastics & Adapted Recreation Director.
-To encourage integration of participants within a community setting.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
-The listed qualifications are representative of the attributes necessary for successful performance of the position. Substitution of comparable training or abilities, as well as reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities, will be taken into consideration. Technical Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
-Position requires a sincere, caring individual who possesses knowledge in the area of Adapted Recreation.
-Interests and skills in coaching Adapted sports are preferred.
-Background in YMCA philosophy is desired.
-This person should possess sensitivity to the needs of individuals and the ability to build rapport with participants and caregivers/parents.
-Past experience coaching.
