Mission The primary goal of the Fisheries Society is to increase and perpetuate the recreational, aesthetic, and economic opportunities provided by all fisheries resources, including game and non-game species, in Wisconsin.To aid in the achievement of this goal, the objectives of the society are:To provide increased communication between researchers, managers, students, teachers and others interested in the welfare of fisheries in Wisconsin Provide the opportunity to present a unified position regarding significant fisheries matters Provide a source of professional expertise for persons, organizations and agencies seeking information or other resources Promote scientific management of fisheries resources through informational and educational programs Promote greater professionalism and involvement by all persons associated with fisheries society 2. To ensure that members: gain valuable work experience through projects learn up-to-date methods and technical skills keep up with current issues through speakers benefit from the team-like atmosphere in the society benefit by being part of an official subunit of the professional organization, the American Fisheries Society 4. The university as a whole benefits from our informational speakers and projects which focus on improving local lakes and streams that all can enjoy. 5. The society focuses specifically on the fisheries aspect of water resources and is the only organization on campus that does so6. The society does not operate during the summer, winter, or other holiday breaks7. No students in the organization shall receive university credit for their involvement
